Catania Gate (Porto Catania), built in 1440, is one of the original gates to the hilltop resort town of Taormina, Sicily. It accesses the Corso Umberto, the main street of the city. See more at my Messina and Taormina, Sicily Gallery.

The Maritime Heritage Center is home port of the Tall Ship Providence (which sadly was not there when I was). Providence serves as a floating classroom, educates visitors on the role that the Continental Navy played in the American Revolution, and showcases Alexandria’s history as a port city.
