Labor Day morning at the Smithsonian National Zoo offered a quiet moment of focus amidst the holiday crowds. Stepping out of the pool, this tiger sent a halo of backlit spray into the air, turning a split second of motion into a striking study of contrast, texture, and force.

We have bears in the woods in Norway. However it’s a lot safer to see them at a safari park. There in lies my personal dilema, I feel so sorry for the Bears. They turn up on time for feeding and hundreds of people gather to watch. Don’t get me wrong I wouldn’t want to meet a bear on the trail. But if I did it would no doubt be just as scared as me…Hopefully.
