The Restaurant Owner

Down in the harbour area in Oslo there is a little restaurant called Fenaknoken  that specialises in cured meat and smoked fish etc. Their smoked salmon is some of the best I’ve ever tasted. The restaurant itself is a place where you write your name on the tables just to let others know you’ve been there. The father sold the restaurant to his son (Pictured here) but still works for his son serving and greeting customers.

Camp Barentz Svalbard

A few years ago before Covid I took a week’s holiday on Svalbard. This is from the first evening we arrived. We had a great meal in the large tent you see in front of you and, were ,among other things shown how to spot a Polar Bear. We had a great week but didn’t see one (Except stuffed).Next year we hope to return so maybe then we’ll get to see one.

I was asked by a relative if wouldn’t mind photographing some (Over 30 and counting) photo albums from his recently past mother. Nothing fancy just a shot of each double page. There are pictures going back to the early 1900’s Fascinating to say the least.

Anyway back to the grindstone…

GAS

I’m not talking about the price of petrol or diesel. I got a bad GAS (Gear Acquisition Syndrome) attack the other day and couldn’t resist the call of this little, but heavy beauty. The WAF was low but I could work with it. Yes it’s another film camera kind of out of date like me. However I have so much film to use up I think this will help a little with that. What’s the WAF I hear you ask… Wife acceptance factor. See you next week when the bruises have gone.

I purchased a “new” old lens the other day and wanted to try a portrait shot.I don’t know if you are like me with a new lens? I have to take one shot that justifies my expenditure. In this case this is the shot.My son arrived with his girlfriend. So it wasn’t difficult to ask them. The lens you ask?
A Nikon Nikkor 180mm f/2.8D. A dream lens I couldn’t afford in the 80’s.

The Hall of Remembrance

This rather impressive pyramid is a hall of remembrance for the fallen sailors of WWI and WWII it was built in 1926. Unfortunately it was closed it being Easter when I took this shot
