Crossing the road…

Black And White Photography, Ian, Photography

Waiting for the scooters to cross the road. Foshan, China, X100F

Waiting at a Foshan crossing — the patient street photographer’s natural moment. The scooters and figures create a layered scene that monochrome simplifies into a clear visual hierarchy. The X100F’s fixed lens means you work with your feet, finding the frame through position rather than focal length. The slight motion blur on the scooters in the background gives the still figures their stillness. See the China series on China: The Final Frame on IJM Photography.

Landscape

Black And White Photography, David, Photography

Many of you that look at my regular posts know that I have a love-hate relationship with Landscape pictures, in that I love other peoples landscapes, and hate my own. However occasionally I take a shot that I’m willing to show others.

Room 306

Black And White Photography, Laurie, Mobile Photography, Photography

Room 306 of the Lorraine Motel “is exactly the way it was on April 4th, 1968. The bed is made. The food tray is on the coffee table. The ashtray with a partially smoked cigarette is on the desk. As you peer into the hotel room, you see Dr. King’s surroundings during the final minutes of his life — frozen in time”.
