Castillo de San Marcos in St Augustine, Florida is the oldest masonry fort in the continental United States. Construction started in 1672 to replace the previous wooden fort after raids by English privateers in 1668, when Florida was part of the Spanish Empire. The photo shows the west side of the fort and moat, the east side sits on the Matanzas Bay waterfront.

Boneyard Beach is a photographer’s paradise, it’s an unusual stretch of coastline along the Nassau Sound in Big Talbot Island State Park just northeast of Jacksonville, Florida. Famous for its 30-foot bluffs and massive, bleached skeleton driftwood trees scattered across the sand.

Cross-section of one of the few remaining natural live oak tree barriers on Oak Island, North Carolina. Most of these windswept oaks and wax myrtle shrub protective barriers have long disappeared due to beach home development.

Anglers fishing on a sandbar, accessed by boat, between Oak Island and Holden Beach, North Carolina in the Intracoastal Waterway. As the incoming tide starts to consume the sandbar, I found the aerial wave/water/sand patterns fascinating. I looked up wave theory, it goes pretty deep (pun intended)!

Along the Akershusstranda pathway, under the Akershus fortress, next to the Inner Oslofjord in Oslo, I found this cool boat vignette. Pipervika stands as a well-liked district within Oslo, forming a connecting link between Aker Brygge and Akershus Fortress.
While processing in Lightroom, it became difficult to settle on one of many composition possibilities. Like my November 27 “Composition of Compositions” post, I decided on composing and posting the composition of compositions version.
