Left to rot in a Swedish scrapyard which has become a kind of cultural pilgrims site for all old car lovers and photographers like me.

This wasn’t a re-vist to the place just one of the many shots I have in my archive.
this rusty old van is just one of the many quietly rusting in peace just across the border in Sweden.

Seems a bit late. However there is a song in Norwegian and Swedish that will tell you that “Christmas lasts all the way to Easter”. I’m glad it doesn’t my waistline couldn’t cope.

Happy New Year dear readers and co-contributers.

I usually shy away from using HDR. I’m not really a fan. However I do think some shots are worth the effort so to speak. This is a shot I took in Sweden a few weeks ago. I love the bikes and, the signs on this hut. I’ll leave you to use Google translate to find the meanings. Happy hunting.

Post it Stockholm by Mats Levander

This posting place is one of the concrete columns under the bridge Liljeholmsbron in Stockholm. It is a popular but illegal posting place, most of the posters are from small independent theatre groups, music events, concerts & artists. It is located on the Södermalm side of the bridge, recently labelled by Vogue magazine as one of the three coolest quarters in the world.

Hello, my name is Mats. I was born in Helsingborg, Sweden some 50+ years ago and live in Windsor, Berkshire just outside London, UK since 2007. I have a passion and interest for visual arts in general and for photography in particular. It provides a good balance to my hectic everyday job in marketing within the IT-industry.

Christmas 2004 I bought a second hand 35mm SLR camera as a present for my son. He is now a professional cinematographer and photographer. His interest, enthusiasm and creativity inspired me to give photography a go as well.

I try to work with both detail and overview and to illustrate a feeling in my photographs. To seek, find and present the not so immediately visible, not always settle for beauty in the traditional sense of the word. Black and white photography is a perfect vehicle to do this. I like the way I can express emotions, feelings and moods in different shades from black to white. It provides both style and substance.

Someone said that my photographs have a sense of both exclusion and inclusion. While that is true to some extent, I am still trying to find my own voice in my images regardless of the motive. I am inspired by creative people, places and processes, all art, movies, advertising, society and the world around me.
