At first glance this lush green hill looks like another rural Long Island landscape. In actuality it’s smack in the middle of an industrial park. It’s a land reclamation project that was started years ago at a closed landfill. The pipeline in the foreground carries any methane gas from the underground layers of decaying trash to a processing plant where it is used to power the reclamation facility. Image was taken with an iPhone 15 Pro Max.

My son and daughter and my grandson make Pepperkake with my wife. A real seasonal workshop. Merry Christmas everyone.
Also known as iconostases Kandylakia are the Greek version of a wayside shrine. They are found all over Greece, typically on the curve of a mountainous road. They are erected to memorialize the spot where someone was killed or as an offering at the place where someone was miraculously saved.
