Tall Ships

Black And White Photography, David Jensen, Photography

It was announced recently that the Tall Ship Celebration would be returning to Duluth, MN this summer. Two years ago it had moved to another city along Lake Superior but, we are happy to have it back in our harbor in 2025. One ship that won’t be returning, that was part of the 2010 celebration, is the Bounty. She sank off the coast of North Carolina during Hurricane Sandy on October 29, 2012.

More of my photography can be found on my website and my blog.

Backstone Circle

The haunted 5000 year old Backstone circle deep on Ilkley moor in Yorkshire. The circle is in a wall and legend has it that the landowner constructed the wall around the circle to keep the spirits from getting out!

Burano Boatyard Street
Burano Boatyard Street

While visiting the colorful city island of Burano near Venice, Italy, I noted this composition taken from Fondamenta S Mauro looking into an entrance to Calle Dei Squeri, or “street of the boatyard.  In Italian, “squeri” (plural of “squero”) refers to small boatyards, especially those where expert craftsmen build and repair wooden boats, particularly gondolas. My trip to Italy, France, and Spain was in October of 2022.  I’m not sure if I’ll ever finish curating the approximately 4,000 resulting images!
