One of my favorite holiday destinations to getaway from the hubbub of New York life has turned out to be Lancaster, Pennsylvania a few hours drive from home. The Amish are a fascinating group of people who have somehow persisted and resisted the advances of modern day and still live like it used to be. While they do not fancy posing for photographs my recent visit armed with a 600mm lens helped capture this image from a distance.

Rain Stopped Play

I have a confession to make. As I wrote last week I was going to the Bi-annual Viking market at a local town. However the weather beat us back even before we got half-way. The heavens opened and, we had torrential rain. So we beat the retreat and will try again in two years time. Until then this is a shot I took 4 years ago at the same event. Vikings waiting to go into battle …once health and safety checked that the grass wasn’t too wet :0)

It was early in the morning in Greensboro, NC and I was in town to shoot a wedding.  Even when traveling, I try to stick to my exercise plan and since I’m moving very fast to  burn calories, I did not have my camera.  I did, however, have my phone.

Somehow, I ended up between the train tracks, and when the train appeared, I was more worried about getting arrested than about being injured.  As I waved at the Conductor, I’m sure he was thinking “that woman is just not right”.
