Construction of this Canadian national historic site began in 1823 and today nearly 200 years later, the Notre-Dame Basilica, located in Old Montreal is a much venerated and constantly busy historic landmark dedicated to Mother Mary that is an architectural marvel

In July, my family and I spent a few days in St. Petersburg, Russia.  This is the Kazan Cathedral, a functional Russian Orthodox Church styled after St. Peter’s Basilica in Rome. I tried to go for a unique angle and was lucky enough to catch a plane in the background; an interesting juxtaposition of historical architecture and modern technology!

I had wanted to photograph this church located in the small town of Peru,Massachusetts for several years. The problem had always been a matter of light, and the fact that I didn’t get by there very often. This day, however, my companion and I had left Shelburne Falls, earlier than usual which put us in Peru at just the right time.

I worked for a bit trying to photograph the building without including the wires, but it just wasn’t possible, and in the end decided that they were part of the true image and could be included without ruining it.
