Forever Knight

1957 Cadillac ElDorado Biarritz

Forever Knight was a Canadian television series about Nick Knight, an 800-year-old vampire working as a police detective in modern-day Toronto, Ontario. When asked why he drives around in an old Cadillac and not a newer car, he answers, “The 1959 Cadillac had more trunk space than any other car made in the last 30 years.” Why is that important? He uses the large trunk space as a place to hide from the sun in case he gets caught out and away from home during the day. When I came across this Cadillac at a local car show, the fact that the trunk was open reminded me of the series, which ran from 1992 to 1996.

You could take this type of shot in many cities around the world. I just happened to be in Shanghai. I love the fact that her eyes are closed in this shot and, that wonderful expression. Even her carrier bag sends a message .

Not much PP except the B&W conversion. I just cropped a little. I didn’t bother to straighten it either, I liked the angle.

This image is quite old, but I still like it.

It’s taken in one of our former capitals of industrialism. Decades ago, huge steel plants, coal mines and similar factories in the montan industry gave thousands of workers an employment. But, they also destroyed the environment by polluting the air and the water.

In that time, there wasn’t much green in the cities. No parks for the kids to play. Freshly washed laundry hung up outside for getting dry, was already gray when fetched from the washing line.

These two guy playing football inside a former steel plant. The thick framing walls once were the outside of two huge coal or ore storages.

There were many changes during the last 30-40 years in our region: less factories, less pollution, less options for employment, many unemployed people and many serious problems for the governments to solve.

More of my images can be seen at my own blog.
