It’s a Toronto landmark, and it’s older than the Flatiron in NYC. There are a million photos of this building but I haven’t seen one that looks quite like this. I don’t want to get so used to the way things are that I forget about all the wonderful things around me.

The town of Grafton is currently under renovation, which is removing all the authenticity that an historic ruin reflects. Still, there is the Grafton cemetery just outside of town that is the final resting place for a few dozen inhabitants of the time. The remaining buildings of the Grafton ghost town are a mix of authentic pioneer era structures and modern-built “period” movie sets constructed for the 1969 classic “Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid,” starring Paul Newman and Robert Redford. These buildings are clearly recognizable to fans of the movie. All are located on private property, and trespassing will likely bring a quick visit from a Washington County Sheriff’s deputy. Living in Norway as I do there aren’t many days go by without some hint to the Vikings and Norwegian heritage. When you read this I will have hopefully attended the bi-annual Viking market in a local town. This fellow sold smoked salts of all kind.

Greenville, South Carolina’s Liberty Bridge
It was an overly bright and beautiful morning, and somehow, my camera settings were off (perhaps because I was riding the bicycle with my camera bumping along against my back).
Such a cool stop on the way to Atlanta, and a wonderful bicycle ride.
At 345 feet long, 12 feet wide and 8 inches thick, the concrete reinforced deck is supported by a single suspension cable. The deck’s distinctive curve has a radius of 214 feet and it is cantilevered toward the waterfall from supporting cables on the outside. The bridge deck also inclines 12 feet or 3% from east to west over the river.
