Known to the Navajo as Tse Bit a ‘i, rock with wings or winged rock. The feature is governed by the Navajo Nation and plays a significant role in Navajo religion, myth and tradition. The name “Shiprock” derives from the peak’s resemblance to an enormous 19th century clipper ship. I had the opportunity to photograph the site during my recent trip to Mesa Verde National Park to view the annular eclipse.

Image was captured just before sunset which provided near horizontal lighting on the peak.

The Plantin-Moretus Museum in Antwerp is a printing museum which focuses on the work of the 16th century printers Christophe Plantin and Jan Moretus. Located in their former residence and printing establishment, the 400 year old building is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
