Racing The Storm

Racing the storm.  I happened to find a moment where the rain wasn’t pouring down.  While I was dry, relatively speaking, at this moment I had been standing in the pouring rain with my camera waiting for the right shot for quite a long time.  Well, that might not have been the best idea.  Don’t let the big marketing machine fool you.  The weather resistance of the Canon 7D isn’t all it’s cracked up to be.  This turned out to be a very expensive picture after my camera crapped out and needed a quick trip back to Canon to fix a little “moisture” issue.  See more images at SMB-Photo.com

The Best Of Monochromia – Wade Hewitt – Running Above The Clouds

When Wade first contacted me about possibly becoming a Guest Contributor he sent me a link to his website. I clicked the link to his site and was immediately blown away by his work. I quickly contacted him and loaded his information into Monochromia before he could change his mind 🙂 He has been with us ever since and has provided us with a variety of awesome images – Joe

Mt Hood

Mt Hood is one of the most majestic mountains I’ve ever seen.  Like other mountains Mt Hood likes to make it’s own weather and it can be difficult to get a good view of the peak.  Despite what it looks like, there is less snow and ice on the top than anyone can remember.  SMB-Photo.com

I absolutely love visiting this waterfall despite the crowds.  You can actually see the falls from the interstate so everyone stops.  Despite that it’s one of the most beautiful and iconic sights in Oregon.  There is beauty out there right under your nose every day.  Don’t forget to stop and smell the waterfalls. Cliff Jumping

I had a two week vacation in Hawaii this summer.  I remember cliff jumping in Kona last time I was there so I went back to the same place to see if I could get some good shots of the locals.  In typical island style the locals were all really nice to me, especially when they realized that I would send the pics that I took.  I’ve always been a sucker for silhouettes so when the sun started to set I was able to get some great shots.  This almost looks like three shots stitched together but it’s actually three different guys getting ready to jump.  You can see more of my shots from Hawaii over on SMB-Photo.com.

Banyan Tree

It’s rare that you get a moment without people everywhere at Lahaina Banyan Court Park.  Getting up early does have some perks.  The tree was planted in 1873.  The banyan tree is the largest in Hawaii and one of the largest banyan trees in the U.S.  It’s aerial root system covers 0.66 acres.
