Drifting with the falling snow into the delights of the Nevada ranges and ranches. This is north of Las Vegas, which indeed almost everywhere in Nevada is and, as it turned out, winter road trip paradise!

Mt Hood is one of the most majestic mountains I’ve ever seen. Like other mountains Mt Hood likes to make it’s own weather and it can be difficult to get a good view of the peak. Despite what it looks like, there is less snow and ice on the top than anyone can remember. SMB-Photo.com
In photography it is as important as what is what is not seen. Sometimes, it is more important what is not. This image is an allegory of what is photography, a game of mirrors, a lie within a lie.

Pismo Beach, CaliforniaI must admit I left my husband at the dinner table to run out and capture the sun’s last hurrah as it set over the Pacific Ocean. (No worries – I did have his blessing.) Alas, the sun moved more quickly than I did, and without many clouds in the sky there wasn’t a great deal of color, but I thought the scene worked beautifully in black and white. Hope you agree!

I absolutely love visiting this waterfall despite the crowds. You can actually see the falls from the interstate so everyone stops. Despite that it’s one of the most beautiful and iconic sights in Oregon. There is beauty out there right under your nose every day. Don’t forget to stop and smell the waterfalls. SMB-Photo.com
