…bit of fun

Black And White Photography, David, Photography

I thought this week I’d post a bit of fun. Yes it’s not entirely in focus. It’s a reject, or maybe comedy gold I don’t know. It’s like everything we do in this wonderful hobby of ours, we have to please ourselves first, and then our audience.

I’m amazed my camera picked this fleeting moment. For the birders amongst you it is a Nuthatch.

Bird On A Stick

Black And White Photography, Don, Photography

I saw this Mockingbird in a small bird sanctuary with the wonderful — and unusual — name of “Dos Vacas Muertas” (Two Dead Cows). Photographers call this a “bird-on-a-stick” photo, a slightly teasing term indicating that, even though we all take them, it is a bird picture that takes little skill. It’s true. It’s just three simple steps: 1) See the bird; 2) Point the camera; 3) Push the button. Easy peasy.
To make up for the simplicity of the image, I had some fun finishing it.

This small flock of flamingos is part of the most northern flamingo colony. Yes, you read right, these are free birds. Their ancestors escaped from captivity. 4 kinds of flamingos are living together in western Germany. In fall, they migrate first to Belgium, and when it becomes colder, they head south with the final destination in southern France and Spain.
