The Maritime Heritage Center is home port of the Tall Ship Providence (which sadly was not there when I was). Providence serves as a floating classroom, educates visitors on the role that the Continental Navy played in the American Revolution, and showcases Alexandria’s history as a port city.

Room 306 of the Lorraine Motel “is exactly the way it was on April 4th, 1968. The bed is made. The food tray is on the coffee table. The ashtray with a partially smoked cigarette is on the desk. As you peer into the hotel room, you see Dr. King’s surroundings during the final minutes of his life — frozen in time”.

Wisconsin Square

Berthed at Nauticus, the Battleship Wisconsin is one of the largest and last battleships ever built by the U.S. Navy. USS Wisconsin (BB-64) is an Iowa-class battleship built for the United States Navy in the 1940s and is currently a museum ship. Completed in 1944, the ship was assigned to the Pacific Theater during World War II, where she participated in the Philippines campaign and the Battles of Iwo Jima and Okinawa.
