I love finding an interesting face to make a portrait while walking the streets.  This was taken in Union Square, NY

In street photography, we don’t wait for golden light. Mid-day will present a different set of circumstances. I love street portraits. I saw this girl on a NYC bench and she caught my attention.  She smiles with her eyes, the shadow play from her lashes, one of my favorite street portraits.

This guy was the real deal I think. Tricky lighting full sunshine on a white tent background but I like the face.

Mary (1 of 1)I had a really nice conversation with Jerry and Mary the other day. We talked about a number of things including the hardships of the past when they both were forced into the residential school system – which is a dismal part of Canadian history. Mary also told me about her son, who died several years ago while trying to save another man who was drowning. A lighter point in the conversation came when I asked if they were married to which Mary shouted “Married! He’s my 2nd cousin!”. (M240 / 50f2 / iso2000)
