For those of you familiar with the movie “When Harry Met Sally,” Katz’s was the location of the famous “I’ll have what she’s having” scene with Meg Ryan and Billy Crystal. In fact, hanging from the ceiling above the table where the scene was shot is a sign saying “Where Harry Met Sally… Hope you have what she had! Enjoy!!” And in the midst of all the bedlam and scores of people waiting to sit, this lone table stands empty. Have some fun pondering the reasons for that!

The beginning of March brought a trip to southern California and a return to Santa Monica Pier. Arguably cooler than my summer trip, hardy souls still populated the beach while others were content to simply enjoy the scenery and storm-like clouds from afar.

Not all the treasures in the Louvre Museum in Paris are sculptures or paintings or jewels. This scene — an alcoved archway framing the famous Louvre Pyramid (and one of the three smaller pyramids in the main courtyard) against the backdrop of the palace’s Richelieu Wing — took my breath away. C’est magnifique!

It’s amazing the life post-processing can bring to old jpeg files. I took this photo in 2010 with my Nikon D90 and kit lens, before I knew anything about photography (can we talk about cutting off the steeple?). But as I worked on it, Paris came alive before my eyes. And I was transported to the cafe where we spent a wonderful mid-afternoon break people-watching against the backdrop of Pont Saint-Louis and Notre Dame. J’adore Paris!
