Home of the Norwegian National Opera and Ballet, the Norwegian architectural firm Snøhetta won the design competition to build a new opera house in the city. Completed in 2007, the Opera House won the World Architecture Festival in Barcelona in October 2008 award.
The building resembles a glacier flowing into the Oslofjord inlet. The white granite structure invites pedestrians to walk up and enjoy a panoramic view of Oslo from the roof. The strong lines and angular shape were an architectural photographer’s dream.
