Looking back into the archives from over a decade ago during my time on Long Island, NY. This self-portrait double-exposure study was an exercise in exploring layered narratives, interior window light, and classic monochrome textures. It is always rewarding to revisit these early experiments and see where the journey began.
This was inspired by covid confinement. I am often told I look like my mother so I decided to do a double exposure to see if that is true. We were both in our mid-thirties in the images of us. The one of my mother is a photo I took of a portrait of her painted by her brother. I converted it to black and white. The one of me is a photo taken of me for the Baltimore Sun. I took a photo of it. I merged them.
