it’s because it was cold!

Recent frigid weather and wave action coats the shoreline rocks with a frosting like coating of ice.

On the morning I went out to shoot some photos of ice, I slipped on ice next to my truck as I was loading my camera bag. I landed on my stainless steel coffee mug, which hit me right around the left kidney. Ouch! I managed to make out and grab a few shots before going home to recover with an ice pack.

It may seem that the water is steaming, and it sort of is. When Lake Superior is warmer than the air above it, you get sea smoke. It was -5 F (-15 C) the morning I captured this image.
