Grand ChessOn a recent trip up the west side of Michigan, and before crossing the Mackinac Bridge, I made a stop at Mackinaw City and took the ferry out to Mackinac Island. Probably the most Iconic structure on the island is the Grand Hotel.

Our camera club, Duluth/Superior Camera Club, hosted the North Central Camera Clubs annual convention this year. It was supposed to have been last year however, some strange global event caused us to postpone till this year. Photographers from Minnesota, Wisconsin, Iowa, North and South Dakota, Kansas and Nebraska were represented and took part in photo tours, educational seminars and banquets. We are looking forward to next year’s convention in Dubuque, IA.
One of the tours made a stop at Amnicon State Park in Wisconsin. This covered bridge is in the park.

The tall ships have returned after being absent due to the damnpenic. Previous years the ships came to Duluth, Minnesota however, this year they are in Two Harbors which is about 25 miles up the shore of Lake Superior. To avoid the crowds, I arrived around 5:30AM and flew my drone out over the harbor.
A color version of the image and more of my work can be seen on my blog. I also have work on my website.

Just looking at this image gives me chills. An icy cliff face at Gooseberry Falls State Park on a typical northern Minnesota winter day. Temps in the mid-teens, wind gusts around 30mph, waves crashing on the rocks and snow blowing off the cliff.
