Not a very original title but, as much as I like this image, I couldn’t come up with anything.

A recent hike along the Gooseberry River in Minnesota led me to this tree. During high water, the soil is washed away from the base of the trees and exposes the elaborate root systems of the cedar trees.

If you’ve been to Chicago, you’ve probably visited Millennium Park and seen the “Bean,” also known as the Cloud Gate. It’s one of those sculptures that I can walk around and find unique compositions from every angle.

One of the best parts of living by the inland sea of Lake Superior is the effect of wind on the lake. When the wind blows strong out of the east/northeast, you get big waves along the shore in Duluth, MN. Although the waves are exciting to watch, they can also be very destructive. Another stop on my recent trip out west was at the Crazy Horse Memorial in the Black Hills of South Dakota. I was there in 2019 with two of my grandchildren and we were all in awe of the scale of this project. If you haven’t been there, I highly recommend it a visit. One of the stops on my trip west this year was a return to Devil’s Tower. Although I have been there before, I couldn’t resist another visit to this unique structure.

Hidden from view as you drive along the highway in Wyoming is a small slice of badlands called Hell’s Half Acre. It has historical significance due to it being used by the indigenous peoples who would drive bison in to the canyon for harvesting. If you’ve ever been to the badlands of South Dakota, you would feel like you are in the same place.
