As promised last week, here is a picture of the whole church, all wood and almost black with age. This church has survived with the least amount of alteration. Throughout Europe there where some 1000 wooden churches built this is one of the 28 left.

Norway is known for it’s wooden churches. This one in Borgund is no exception It dates back to 1183 but the timber used was felled in 1180. My picture shows just some small details of the roof against a stormy sky. I’ll share some shots going forward of the whole building. Until next time…stay safe.
