I discovered this composition along the shore of the St. Louis River in Jay Cooke State Park, which is near Duluth, Minnesota.  The Medusa like root tendrils seeking a foothold among the rocks seem alive as they reach out new places to get a grip on the land.

Lanesboro, Minnesota on a quiet afternoon, with the main activity being the Amish basket market.  Lanesboro is located in southeast Minnesota, is home to many Amish families, is a hub for recreational activities along the Root River, has a great theater company and some wonderful B&Bs.

This is one of several images of ice I captured while on my Black Friday escape to nature.  Taken on a backwater area of the St. Croix River in William O’Brien State Park which is north of Stillwater, Minnesota.  Additional images from the shoot can be seen here.

Once again, I am turning the world on its side and re-imagining the textures of cedar tree bark discovered while walking in Minnesota’s Jay Cooke State Park.  By turning the image on its side, I’ve created the possibly of other interpretations of the original image.
