Front right entrance view from the Cathedral of Saint Mary Major in Marseille, France. It’s the only cathedral built in the 19th century and the last built in France. Its foundations are superimposed on an old church of the 4th century.

While visiting the colorful city island of Burano near Venice, Italy, I noted this composition taken from Fondamenta S Mauro looking into an entrance to Calle Dei Squeri, or “street of the boatyard. In Italian, “squeri” (plural of “squero”) refers to small boatyards, especially those where expert craftsmen build and repair wooden boats, particularly gondolas. My trip to Italy, France, and Spain was in October of 2022. I’m not sure if I’ll ever finish curating the approximately 4,000 resulting images!

My friend Mary Lou is a sweet and amazing lady. At 101 years of age, she is the oldest original member of First United Methodist Church in High Point, North Carolina.
