For once I used just my phone to capture this photo of Molly, aka Doggy Dog, aka Daddy’s beautiful girl, aka Gorgeous, aka Silly Billy Doggy! Conversion to black and white carried out by Snapseed.

Sometimes the best camera is the one in your pocket — Molly photographed on the phone, converted to black and white in Snapseed. Portrait photography works in monochrome because it strips the background of its colour, leaving only the quality of light on the subject and the expression. Molly’s eyes do all the work. Excellent image Ian 👍🏻 Even Molly agrees that the best camera is the one you have with you 😁

I thought it was pretty good for a phone picture…

It’s excellent for a mobile phone image Ian. Years ago I would have never thought of using an iPhone or Android phone as a camera but now the phones and computational processing power they possess can produce pretty damn good images.

you’re right of course, and they are so much better than they were, but I still maintain that a dedicated device with a larger sensor will always ve superior.
However, they fit in our pockets, so we generally always have them on hand, but I do wish people would take a photo with them as if it were a real camera, taking their time to compose the image with care.
