Back in April of this year, when the trees were still without their leaves, I noticed strong shadows on a wall of a large building painted by the late-afternoon sun. At once, the title of a Mike Oldfield song, sung by Roger Chapman, came to my mind. That song, called “Shadows the Wall”, was released in September 1983 and thus turns 40 now. And another thing becomes obvious now: I grew old since then.
I took this image in April 2011, when I was visiting a local museum dedicated to old handcrafts around noon when the still low-standing sun created these wonderful intense shadows on the side of the old workshop building. In that building, once a barrel and wheel maker used to have his workshop and his home. The building was dismounted in its original place and rebuilt here in the museum to show the old building as well as present (and sometimes demonstrate) the old craft.
More of my images can be seen on my own blog.
Elk eat the bark of aspen trees – particularly in the winter months when the nutritional value of many of the grasses is lowest.
