As I was leaving Lexington, Virginia early one morning, I saw the sun rising over the Stonewall Jackson Memorial Cemetery. I only had a second to stop and take the shot.
Would love to have done a little exploring.
Holy moly, I am sliding this in at the last minute!
The campaign is over and despite the loss, I have been incredibly blessed.
If interested, check out these links to two very short posts.
Election day in the US is just 4 days away and in honor of my last post before the big day, I thought I’d share a photo of a gift I received after entering the race for the Virginia House of Delegates.
LMA from Suffragette Kitty has become an incredible WordPress friend and supporter of my campaign. She is a passionate feminist and supporter of the Women’s Movement, and I love her writing. Early in the campaign, LMA sent me this collection of items from Orchard House, the home of Louisa May Alcott.
“In the days before the 19th Amendment, a wealthy Newport socialite ordered a tea set emblazoned with the phrase “Votes for Women” to make a point to the influential guests who often dined with her. The Alcotts were ardent supporters of the women’s suffrage movement, and today we offer replicas of this tea set and other items bearing the “Votes for Women” motto” (from the Museum Store catalog).
With less than two weeks until Election Day in the US, I was forced to search through my archives to find a photo suitable for conversion to B&W. It also seemed appropriate, as this is the two year anniversary of the bike wreck that occurred the day after I took this shot.
What a wild ride the last two years have been!
In monochrome, this fence looked more like an abstraction. I actually liked the soft, subtle colors in the original as well.
