I’m always attracted to a good reflection and the stone pillars and chains got my attention.

Hello to all, it’s good to be back on Monochromia as a main contributor. After taking some time to attend to other obligations which reduced my ability to spend as much time as I wanted enjoying photography, I’m getting out more often again. For those who haven’t seen my work, much of it is from northern Minnesota and the shore of Lake Superior. However, I do travel outside my home in Duluth and always have my cameras at the ready.
This image is from a night when I was attempting to photograph the northern lights. I found this dark location by a cemetery which became my focus while waiting for the sky to cooperate.

It was one of those perfect days on the St. Croix River. The still water, the bare trees and a featureless sky combine to create an amazing reflection.

Sometimes, you see something on the side of the road that compels you to stop and investigate…

Don’t seek an explanation from me, I’m just as baffled as you.

Known to the Navajo as Tse Bit a ‘i, rock with wings or winged rock. The feature is governed by the Navajo Nation and plays a significant role in Navajo religion, myth and tradition. The name “Shiprock” derives from the peak’s resemblance to an enormous 19th century clipper ship. I had the opportunity to photograph the site during my recent trip to Mesa Verde National Park to view the annular eclipse.
Image was captured just before sunset which provided near horizontal lighting on the peak.

On my recent trip to Mesa Verde National Park for the Annular Eclipse, I took a tour of the Cliff Palace dwellings. These constructions are absolutely amazing and worth seeing first hand.
