I expected to just get a view of the valley from the ridge. Imagine my surprise when I discovered this table and chair set up on the ridge with a lovely view. It appears that someone has been camping on the site and there was a lot of broken plates and other debris on the ground.

There is a herd of wild horses that hang out by the Salt River near Mesa, Arizona and if you time it right, you can catch them cooling off in the water. On this day, there were about 25 of the nearly 200 that roam the area.

I took a hike in the Arizona desert to view these petroglyphs etched on stone. I suspect that it was an important location as water forms several pools here after rain.

As I have been exploring the desert in Arizona, I have learned to be very aware of where I walk and how close I get to the various cactus species. But it’s worth the risk to be out discovering all the unique beauty of the desert.

Dead wood left out in the dry Arizona sun ends up bleached and it starts to blend in with the local rocks.
