I photographed this 300 pound bear at the Philadelphia Zoo. Can you guess what he is made of? If you guessed spark plugs you were correct! The creativity in this world is astounding!
Please note, I only took a 50mm lens to the zoo and the space was tight, thus the reason you only see the head and shoulders of the bear. It was actually a life-sized sculpture.

It seems of late I have either been photographing people or flowers. I wanted to do something unique this week so I took inspiration from a site I follow on Instagram called “@LovelyDeadCrap”. I didn’t just go out to photograph flowers, which are bountiful in my yard right now, I wanted to find something unique to post. Here you find the pentagram center of a rose that has lost it’s petals. Did you know that is what the subject in the image was?
Next I needed to come up with a title. I couldn’t just call it two stars so I began with my language of flowers resources and found that the pink rose represents thankfulness. That just didn’t seem enough. So I went on search for the meaning of stars. I found a great website that reviews the history of stars, which you can find HERE. I read about the meaning of stars and was fascinated with the history and meanings. With that I decided that…..
I’d given you a start…so let’s see what you come up with for a title. Ready, set, go and comment below….
A Beautiful Day for a Picnic

This image was shot in my studio after a marketing and business session with 60+ women entrepreneurs in attendance. The vase and flower were part of the decorations that adorned the studio for the event. I used natural light and then processed the image in Topaz BW Suite. Once converted to black and white I added a layer of haze to give it more of a soft, dreamy feel.

Mother’s Perfect Love
Mother’s Day may have come and gone, but there is always reason to acknowledge the mothers in our lives. This image was one of a few I shot last week at my studio, using natural light. A Walk Down a Haunted Hall
This photograph was taken at the Eastern State Penitentiary in Philadelphia. The history behind the Penitentiary is fascinating and the subject matter to photograph is equally as fascinating. Signs of Spring

Signs of Spring was shot in diffused light in between rain showers; April showers bring May flowers. I used a shallow depth of field to achieve a more abstract composition.
Can you guess what the rain drops fell on? I’ll give you a hint – they are some of the first signs of Spring on the North East Coast and provide much needed color to dull, early Spring landscapes.
