Rivets over the River

“Photography is the simplest thing in the world, but it is incredibly complicated to make it really work.” ~ Martin Parr

SS 1/2500 F 7.1 ISO 800

Can you guess where I took this shot?  If you said the Brooklyn Bridge you are correct!   I saw the rivets and played with the light of the sunset and a shallow depth of field to create bokeh and blur out the skyscrapers. I hope you enjoy…

Haunting

Haunting

This is a shot from our recent trip to Southern Illinois to visit family. I do not know that this house is haunted, but periodically there is a light on when the house is otherwise vacant and well on it’s way to dilapidation.  There was definitely an eery aura when standing on the front lawn and I felt as though I was being watched.

Cherries

“Life is just a bowl of cherries,

Don’t take it serious,

Its mysterious.

Life is just a bowl of cherries,

So live and laugh and

Laugh at love,

Love a laugh,

Laugh and love.”

~ Bob Fosse

Meet Bailey, whose owner hired me to do portraits of her.  We began the shoot outside but as it was in the 90s and Bailey was panting and not wanting to be out, we moved the shoot inside.  She has the roam of the house and this bed is one of her favorite spots.  She looks out the window and watches squirrels.  Bailey had so many expressions and was a little ball of energy – a joy to work with.

If you are wondering, the owner wanted her collar to stay one.  She has an electric fence, which keeps her maintained and safe in the back yard.  As we were in and out, it was too much of a risk to take it off.  I did some editing to remove the collar in other images, but I didn’t care for how it changed the texture of the hair on her chest.  A Photoshop expert I am not…
