I’m working on preparing an image for submission with the subject being long exposure. We have several wood pulp plants in the area and I thought they would make for an interesting composition. Although technically strong, I feel that a little more wind would have created longer steam trails and been more what I wanted to capture.

The memory is hazy, was it real or a dream? Did I walk in this place or is it a place not of this reality? The image exists, so the place must exist…somewhere.

Along the shore of Lake Superior in mid-January, a tree leans in to the cold.

After experiencing another laptop crash, I went looking for some files in the hope they had not been lost. The files are intact and in the process of searching, I came across this image taken with my Nikon FM film camera for a class project. I believe the goal was to emulate another image, at which this mostly fails, but I still like the image for it’s odd composition.

The wind and snow work together to sculpt shapes to please the eye, the photographer uses the available tools to capture and interpret the result.

The adventure of driving a backroad in rural Wisconsin during a blizzard. Happy to note that many hours later, after getting stuck only once, we arrived safely at our destination.
iPhone 7 Plus, ISO 20, 6.6mm, f/2.8, 1/280th sec, tweaked in Apple Photos, Adobe Lightroom and signature added via a custom brush in Photoshop.
