ROW ON ROW
In Flanders Fields, the poppies blow,
Between the crosses, row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.
β John McCrae
This is a U.S. military cemetery – Jefferson Barracks in St. Louis, Missouri. There are no poppies between the stones, row on row. that stand on this carefully tended hillside. But places are marked, and birds do fly by sharing their lovely songs. And, sadly, here in this country, there are indeed still guns below.
A beautiful day with a magnificent sky above along with a vantage point looking up the hill gave me the picture I was hoping for. The photo itself is actually a four frame panorama to provide the scope the image demanded. It is finished with a 16 x 9 aspect ratio and a slight sepia tint.

Excellent image Don ππ»

Stunning sepia image, Don. We had to memorize In Flanders Fields in sixth grade and I remember it to this dayβ¦which is a long time! π

Jane β Thanks for the comments.
Good on your sixth grade teacher!
When I was a teacher (many years ago) I would read Flanders Fields and and I Have a Rendezvous with Death on Veterans Day each year (I taught algebra and geometry). Many of our teachers tended to glorify veterans without discussing all the people who never came home. I was the ogre who looked at the other side.
