This statue is made out of 100,000 confiscated blades from over 43 Police forces in the U.K.
Created by sculptor Alfie Bradley and the British Ironwork Centre in 2018, it took 2 years to complete and tours various venues across the U.K. The tour aims to educate the youth about the dangers of knife crime and stands as a memorial to those who have lost their lives to violent actions associated with knife crime.

I have been lucky enough to see this sculpture a few times in different locations as it has toured the UK. Impressive piece of art with a sobering message.

It is very poignant – especially so considering what has just happened in Southport…

It is quite a sobering image Joe…knife crime is high amongst the teenagers in the U.K. at the moment. 😞

I did know that knife crime is a big issue with teenagers in the U.K. James and it is a damn shame. As you probably hear on a daily basis we have a problem in the USA with gun violence and the patchwork of different restrictions (or lack of restrictions) for gun ownership varies from state to state so there is no chance in hell this problem will be solved in the near or distant future because there is no appetite for national gun laws. Pretty lame for a so called civilized society if you ask me.

I guess if our gun laws weren’t so tight here Joe then they would be shooting instead of stabbing. Just seems like all the youngsters are just so angry these days. As a grandparent to 4 of them it is quite worrying. When we were kids you sorted your differences with fists now they just stab each other. And if the Police catch them with a blade it just gets confiscated and the get a warning. The world is a scary place.

You are 100% correct by stating we used our fists to settle differences James. The world has changed but for the worse my friend.
