Triumph & Defeat
Most times, my photography is about natural landscapes, architecture and abstract scenes, but rarely people. Beginning last March I started shooting high school sports, which forced me to look for the human element of each event as I tried to tell the story of the game. Over time I began to notice the different aspects of each sport as a whole and as parts of the whole. There were little things, such as how ponytails have a life of their own, the body language of the teams based on whether they were winning or losing and the different coaching styles. After taking thousands of photos over the course of the year, this image has become one of my favorites. For me it has all the elements of the story that is being told. There is the victor, the vanquished and the judge. The body language says much. The loser turning away, the victor arm held high, standing strong and yet looking away, almost seeming indifferent to the outcome. Perhaps others will interpret the scene differently.

Some of you may have seen a similar post this week on my Instagram or Facebook pages, but I wanted to share it again, just in case you missed it. This gentleman’s smile is contagious and I feel in love with it when we were driving past. I “made” my husband turn around so that I could take a picture of him. He was flattered and happy that I asked and eagerly posed.
I am both excited and honored to be able to tell you that this image was accepted in the juried exhibit “Americana” at the Pennsylvania Center of Photography.

I was in Belgium this past October with my little sister. Bruxelles is full of antiquity stores, full of memories…I love this atmosphere. This window of a shop was like an Artwork…It deserved a photo.

A Terrific Stove
EmilioA photographer went to a socialite party in New York. As he entered the front door, the host said “I love your pictures – they’re wonderful. You must have a fantastic camera.” He said nothing until dinner was finished, then: “That was a wonderful dinner; you must have a terrific stove!”
