Stacy, I enjoyed learning more about the process involved in capturing this image. I can almost visualize you taking the shot!

Haha! Stalking by a pillar – the crew I was with certainly were good sports in putting up with me 🙂 Thanks, Laurie!

I really like this- especially the way the angles of the strip lighting above and the platform edge below emphasise his ‘leaning into the
picture’. Thank you for posting it 🙂

Hey, Stacy. What a great cropping decision. Broke all the rules and got a perfect result. Very nicely done.

Thanks, Robin! My composition in camera required a creative crop. As I replied to Joe, I had my camera braced against a pillar, which put this gentleman at the right edge of my field of view. Since the photo was clearly about him, I needed to crop out a large portion of the left side of the photo to focus attention on him. I liked the end result, but wasn’t sure if others would. But I’ve been happily surprised by the great feedback 🙂 Thanks for your comment!

Thanks, Emilio! I definitely felt a bit voyeuristic, but patience and a long zoom helped in getting this shot 🙂

wow if I took a shot at 1/15 it would be so shaky. Great shot, such steady hands.

Thanks, Ms. Viks! Though I have to admit to bracing my camera against an adjacent pillar to help with the shakiness 😉

Excellent image Stacy 🙂 I love the way the track leads through the image diagonally and the guy looking at you. If you had stuck to the rule of thirds this image wouldn’t have had the impact that it does. Great work.

Thanks so much, Joe. Truth be told, I was shooting around a pillar so he was close to the edge of the frame. I ended up using a square crop, getting rid of most of the frame on the right, and using the triangle overlay in Lightroom (I rely on this overlay more than the traditional rule of thirds). I thought the crop accentuated him peering down the tracks. But I wasn’t sure how it would be received. I’m delighted it has been received well.

How long has he been waiting, he looks so tired. I like that your photo captured that tiredness.

Thanks, David. Interesting observation 🙂 I saw an air of quiet desperation in his face, like he’s thinking “please come, please come, please come!” But, you’re right – he looks tired as well! Thanks so much for commenting.

I just love the way you placed the subject on the very border of the picture. I liked it so much, I’m planning in doing something similar. It is such a creative picture. Congrats in a superlative way.
Cheers,
Omar.-
