    Elina, I love how you can turn something so simple, and usually ignored by most, into something that resonates with all. And it was interesting to read your conversation with Emilio about the need to work with images in post-processing, rather than simply hitting the B&W tab or, as Emilio says, simply desaturating them, to make them better B&W photos. I absolutely agree.

      Such kind words Stacy, thank you! 🙂 I’m glad you also enjoyed the conversation with Emilio. Indeed, processing b&w images requires some additional work, simply desaturating is usually not enough. Great to hear your thoughts on this. 🙂

    A beautiful shot Elina with the detailed curl and those tiny heads of grass! I know autumn is coming soon but happy for it to take its time, as much as I enjoy it when it does arrive!

    Very nice, Elina! I think black and white is often a great choice for images like this even though so many people tend to shoot them in colour. This one works really well in monochrome! I’m not ready for autumn, especially since summer came rather late and our winters are typically brutal!

      I’m warming up to the idea of colorful leaves and sunny and slightly cold autumn days. But I’m also not ready for a brutal winter… although compared to yours it is maybe not that bad even. 🙂 Thank you for your kind words Mike, I hope you get to enjoy the summer for a while still!

    It’s Joe’s fault. I’m not sure I would have ever started seeing in black and white as I do now if it wasn’t his crazy idea to start Monochromia! Great shot, Elina. Just enough light to distinguish the leaves.

      As much as I always loved and admired Joe’s b&w images long before I started doing monochrome myself… for me it started with street photography I think. Colors were too much for most of the street scenes. And another factor was getting Lightroom and starting to process the photos myself. I think turning a photo black and white without a bit of more work with it most often doesn’t work well enough.

      During the one year I’ve watched Joe’s photos I have definitely learned a lot from him. 🙂 Great to hear your thoughts Emilio! 🙂

        I’ve been reading a lot and watching quite a few tutorials on turning color into b & w. and I’m afraid I’m becoming a bit of a snob when I see people who simply desaturate their image, then post it!
