This image is taken from the outside of the station and you can see the structure through the side wall. France station was built in 1929 for the Universal Exhibition, being at the time the main railway station of Barcelona. Now it used for medium-distance routes and the hotel-train to Paris.

Nikon D600 with Sigma 70-200 f2.8 lens, RAW file development with Adobe Camera Raw, Adobe Photoshop CC 2014 treated and converted to black and white with Silver Efex Pro.

So Close

121-2

When I took this photo while on my bike trip to Delaware in 2013, I didn’t pay attention to the date.  When I shared this image on Life in Black & White, another photographer noted that James was so close to surviving the war.  He’d almost made it.

That made this image even more poignant for me.

Rue Chanoinesse

Rue Chanoinesse, Paris, France

Another trip down Paris memory lane. Rue Chanoinesse is a welcome respite from the tourist-packed Notre Dame, only a block away but feeling worlds apart. We stumbled upon it after enjoying some time in a cafe overlooking the Pont Saint-Louis and Notre Dame.
