The Cobbler’s Shop

My beloved boots needed repairing, and this time the job needed to be done right.  Fortunately, a third generation cobbler opened a little shop not far from my home.  I’ll share a photo of the shoes and boots on the shelves another time.  This time, it’s all about the shadows.

Windows and Shadows

Windows and shadows on the exterior corner of a house

Driving to town to run some errands, I spied the afternoon light falling on the lovely lines of this house. I just had to pull over. Photography – always an adventure!

Stillness of the Evening Light

Stillness of the Night Light

Stillness of the Night Light

“So the darkness shall be the light, and the stillness the dancing.” – T.S. Elliot

I took this shot late one evening as I was retiring from a day of skiing.  I had just checked on the kids and was climbing the steps of the cabin when I noticed the incredible detail of the evening light. The snow through the window and the dark shadows defined the stillness of the night while the light danced through the window.

Hoping you have moments of stillness with gorgeous light this weekend!

Rat Rod

I was on my way home from a friends house and noticed this Rat Rod which seems to be a trend here in the USA. A Rat Rod is a Hot Rod with a really strong motor and a ratty body (a sleeper).

This truck is a Frankenstein of sorts with a General Motors body combined with a Chevrolet hood (bonnet) and a mixture of parts from other vehicles.

Notice the Pennzoil oil barrel that was sawed in half to repair the transmission tunnel in true Rat Rod fashion.

It just wouldn’t be right not to take a selfie in these hubcaps 🙂

Hello, my name is Charly and I was born in Barcelona, Spain, in 1956. Currently I live in El Masnou, near Barcelona, located by the Mediterranean Sea.

When I was twelve, somebody gave me a Kodak Brownie Fiesta’s camera, and immediately photography fascinated me. As soon as I made some money, I bought a 35mm SLR, Petri brand, and since then, I have gone through medium format, large format camera, black and white laboratory, and currently undergoing a hard adaptation process to digital photography. Now I’m using a Nikon D600.

For me photography is a passion, I need to take pictures constantly, but I cannot explain why. I like precision and seek the highest quality in my power. I print my pictures 40×60 cm, and I make my own photographic paper.

Mandalay

Mandalay

By the old Moulmein Pagoda, lookin’ lazy at the sea,

There’s a Burma girl a-settin’, and I know she thinks o’ me;

For the wind is in the palm-trees, and the Temple-bells they say:

“Come you back, you British soldier; come you back to Mandalay!”

Rudyard Kipling
