One of my favorite things to do is make the trip from Long Island into Manhattan. When I do I always reach out to Patti to see if she wants to join me in some sort of photo expedition on the streets of “The Big Apple”. Patti is a transplanted Londoner and is a blast to hang out with. We have met many times and I can proudly call her my friend. Whether she is carrying her Nikon FM film camera, her Fuji X100T, Canon DSLR or even her iPhone she always has a knack for being right in the middle of where the action is. I love watching her work her magic – Joe

Kiss Me

I so love your work Patti, and how you capture the world around you! So great!

Having had the absolute pleasure of meeting Patti AND watching her work, I was amazed to hear her describe herself as timid. “Fearless” more adequately captures the essence of Patti as she works her wonderful magic behind the lens.
I had the opportunity to accompany her into the Bronx this past fall (her photographic stomping grounds, she says) and was captivated with watching her work, including approaching a homeless man living under an overpass. Patti began a conversation, finally asking if she could take his picture. He was reluctant. Patti took it in stride and simply continued the conversation. We found out he had completed his parole, now had no support system, and that a bag of his meager belongings was stolen (which included his identification).
As we continued to speak with him, he finally told Patti he would be okay with her taking his picture, which she did. She then gave him her business card and told him she would come back and bring him a copy. I will never forget the smile on his face, nor what he shared with us as we left: that we were the first people who had spoken to him in many, many months.
I have to be honest and admit that I would never have approached this man on my own. But Patti didn’t hesitate, and in fact, she shared stories of other forays into enclaves of the homeless that left me slack-jawed. Patti has a kind and generous heart and she enriches the genre of street photography with her keen eye, sense of timing, and compassion.
I hope I have not embarrassed you with my comment, Patti, but you opened my eyes to so much and educated me more than you know. The day we spent together is one I will forever remember. 💕

Absolutely love this photo! 🙂 You are so right Joe, the essence of Patti’s great photographic style is to be in the middle of everything and she is so courageous and fast with her camera. Love the scenes you notice and capture Patti!

This photo is typical of your photographic style Patti right in the middle of everything 🙂 I love it and thats one of the reasons I chose it for our Monochromia Facebook cover photo. I wish you and your family a wonderful New Year and I will see you sometime soon. Keep up the wonderful work.

So happy to have you as a friend and thank you so much Joe for including me in this wild bunch! Not to mention guiding me with the tricks of the Fuji. This shot came after calling it a day shooting the NY Gay Pride when I found the girls in a quiet side street. They were so good about letting me take the photo which I took with the iPhone because I was tired and had had enough. Parades can do that, wear a person out. These girls perked me back up.
Always fun when you come to town Joe and looking forward to the next jaunt. Happy New Year!
