Quiet, Computing Zone !

Back in the day if you got caught talking in the library you were shushed.  Now nobody talks to each other anyway they just text and instant message.  I wonder what has become of the poor shushing lady ?  Taken in the New York City Public Library.

Excellent photo! The classic library experience is all but a memory. The biggest library here is a lovely place to go to sit and read, study or just zone out….but unfortunately, there are just far too many obsessive phone users and others who use the place as a social gathering place. It is really hard to focus when people are constantly talking or doing something distracting.

Its funny you say that Mike. The last time my wife and I met up with Patti in Manhattan we stopped at this restaurant for drinks and sat by the window. Patti noticed 2 girls sitting outdoors at this restaurant facing each other at a table and never said a word to each other for the whole time we were there. They were holding their phones up and texting other people or maybe even themselves. If you check out Patti’s site I’m sure she posted an image of them it was comical. The only social skills people have now is texting. Thanks Mike 🙂

Haha Laurie the shutter on this Nikon Coolpix A is a leaf shutter so it is totally silent (sometimes I even have to check and make sure I took the photo) 🙂 The Fuji X100T and X30 also have leaf shutters and are silent also.

Yes, I have great memories of those library days too.
But then TV was invented just after I was born and it was safe to go out for a walk after dark too.

(I am feeling terribly old today).
