When I first looked at this photo, I saw too women of completely differing sun strategies both enjoying the water. One, bares her winter weary paleness for a tan, the other (smarter?) gal dons a hat and long sleeves. I tend to the latter these days, but the common denominator is always the water. Water has played a big part in my life. I love to be near it, in it, on it. Reading or writing as these two are, swimming or sailing or even dining, water is hopefully always in play. Those kind of days you wish you could freeze time and make it last a little longer. Like you have in your photo. I love the moment and water, frozen in time. Julia and I had lunch at the National Portrait Gallery one day. They have a beautiful Atrium with an interesting water feature…if you haven’t been, I’d recommend it ! xK

Boomdee, my apologies for the late reply. I just saw your comment. What is it about water that is so mesmerizing and relaxing?? I love it too, and these women sitting by the fountain — well, I almost wanted to sit down and join them! As for the Atrium?? Yes, yes, yes, I love that place! So glad you got to experience it. You really did see a lot while in my neck of the woods! Thanks so much for commenting here xo

    yes indeed!!
We’ve finally enjoyed some of that weather down in SWVA this past weekend. The warmth is so lovely, as is this photo. It captures the essence of being outdoors on a warm day … conversation, reading, just hanging with a friend

Ah, those lazy-hazy days of summer, Laurie! So glad you’re getting the warm weather, though truth be told, hitting 80s this whole last week was too much too soon for me. I’m a spring kinda gal 🙂
