Those of you who have followed me these past few years, know about my love for these 35 year old fire fighting boots. When I dropped them off at the Cobbler’s shop for repair, I saw that the shelves were loaded down with shoes and boots of every style. In our throw away society, it is reassuring to know that others have a love for old boots and shoes, and that a third generation cobbler has the skill to restore these treasures.

Boots, what else? Like a dog, boots are simply the best friend on life. Thanks for share your Amazing picture.
Big hug from Venice. Mirco

This is just wonderful, Laurie, both the image and the story surrounding it! What a gem you have in this cobbler. And I love how you told him to leave the scars. So happy you have someone to keep your beloved boots in good repair 🙂

I just brought a pair of boots into the store for repair after discovering a cobbler/ shoe repair place not too far from my home and was surprised that the price was not as steep as I was anticipating! Great image. Would love to see his sewing machine sometime!

We still love to repair our stuff. Most of the stuff we have at home is at least 35 years old. We don’t throw away anything until it has given its last drop of usable juice. We don’t believe in the disposable economy. No way Jose.

Yes indeed! and the cobbler was surprised that I didn’t want him to clean up the history … repair the boots but leave the scars.

I love this photo… reminds me of my own work boots that look like they’ve worked for decades in the Oklahoma red dirt. Cobblers are hard to come by these days – and yes,it has become a disposable world.

I was so pleased to find this cobbler. 3rd generation! He talked of shoes and the parts of them and it was a knowledge and skill way over my head!

I love this shot Laurie and in this throw away world we live in it is cool that people do still have things they love repaired. Wonderful idea for a series of shots, great work 🙂

Joe, I took some photos of his sewing maching, too. An old singer. It just didn’t turn out though. I’ll try again when I go back to pick up the boots.
Thanks! I’m always appreciative of your supportive comments.
