Spectacular view! For some reason, I’m always surprised when I see the modern and rather stunning modern skyline of Paris! Likely, I’m used to seeing the old areas of the city. The contrast between the centuries old vs. the new is fantastic!

I’m not sure I can express how much I love this image and all that it implies: the climb for you, the fact that you got to be there, the march forward in time to the modern, the grand scope of the shot. Really, really great!

Laurie, I’m not sure I can express how much your comments (on my posts and on others’) amaze me. Not only do you have a gift with your camera, you also have a gift of the written word. Thank you. Truly.

Thanks, Elina. Strange about the timing of the post. I had gone back and forth many times between two photos that I had ready for this Friday. In the end, I scheduled the Paris shot as it truly is my favorite city of those I’ve been fortunate enough to visit. I’m glad I chose it …

Love your viewpoint Stacy. The contrast between old and new really hits home. Funny I’ve been there a few times and have never ventured to the other side of Paris!

Hi, Karen! I hear you about not getting to the “other” side – I’m sure there are some wonderful things to see up close at La Défense (I think the square arch is supposed to be a form of modernistic take on the Arc de Triomphe), but there’s just way too much to see of the “old” Paris to want to leave it!

Thanks, Joe! It was a wonderful reward after climbing the steps to the top of the Arc de Triomphe. I do hope you have the chance some day to visit. Amazing city with so many incredible photographic opportunities! I would love to go back knowing what I do now about photography. “Nous sommes Charlie!”
