It’s not uncommon to hear people describe B&W images as dramatic, moody, even ominous. Yet the day was bright, the sky a deep blue, and the grass so green under the shining sun, and my goal was to reflect that in this image. How’d I do?
Laurie, I definitely did visit your blog to see the photo you meant to post here. I really loved them both, as I did your thoughts about conveying through black and white the beauty of the day you described. For me, one of them did that just a bit better than the other. I’m not gonna make you guess which one I picked – you just have to go to your blog to find out 😉
You did well, Laurie! It’s a challenge for sure, trying to convey a warm, sunny day in B&W. I really like the repeating shapes and lines in this image.
I’m just back from visiting your blog and I’m so glad to welcome you to Monochromia, an incredible group of photographers and then there’s me 🙂
I’m really not being critical of myself, as I am still a newbie to the incredible world of photography. I’ve learned so much from everyone and look forward to more inspiration!
Thank you for your thoughts!
Okay! Well I’m not sure I knew that consciously but yes, you are right! Isn’t it interesting that 12 photos eventually works it’s way down to one that you like? Actually, I told Joe that “I just posted another B&W from the same series on Life on the Bike … and am now thinking I might have posted the wrong one on this blog”. If you have time, let me know your thoughts. I learn so much from all of you!
Thank you, Raewyn! I just visited your blog … your photography is full of variety and your commentary on the elections was welcome. I’ve wondered how individuals feel now that the results are known.
Thanks Joe!! I just posted another B&W on Life on the Bike … and am now thinking I might have posted the wrong one on this blog. When you get a free moment from that consruction project and all the other things on your plate, check it our and let me know what you think!
