Tools Of The Trade

CoffeeCup

Fujifilm X-T1 and Fujinon XF 35mm f/1.4 R Lens – 1/9 @ f/2.8 – ISO 200

This is an old porcelain coated metal coffee cup sitting on a boat builders desk.  It seemed like this was part of his toolkit. I loved the way the porcelain is worn off the handle from use.

So, you see art all around you, is that it? Or you make art from anything you see? Either way this is a great shot. I’ve got to stop looking at the bigger picture and concentrate more on what’s all around!

Thank you Emilio 🙂 I would say its a little of both sort of like the old saying “when life hands you lemons make lemonade”, or of course you can squeeze the lemons on baked clams also. I think you are correct to stop looking at the big picture and just go with the flow (although your images don’t look like they need any help). Have a great evening.

Lots of detail Joe. Love how the wood grain is focused in such thin stripe of DOF. It makes the shot for me. I wonder how many times he burnt his lip on the cup.

Ah, so simple and yet so powerful. Great shot, Joe. Like you, I love the wearing off of the handle’s porcelain, but I also love the contrasting texture and lines in the table. And the shallow DOF is just wonderful.

Thank you very much Stacy. I am a Nikon user like you but I am addicted to bokeh on the Fuji 35mm f/1.4 and the black and white files that Fuji’s produce. Have a great evening 🙂
