Nothing like a good rain to spoil an outing with students. The morning group did their best to enjoy the time in nature, the afternoon group cancelled.

Late evening along the St. Louis River as it flows through Jay Cooke State Park in Minnesota. This beautiful park is home to amazing rock formations, rapids and waterfalls. A trip across the famous swinging bridge will take you to several vantage points to view the river and allows access to hiking trails in the park.

The Root of the Matter

I discovered this composition along the shore of the St. Louis River in Jay Cooke State Park, which is near Duluth, Minnesota. The Medusa like root tendrils seeking a foothold among the rocks seem alive as they reach out new places to get a grip on the land.
